I might have been wrong in my last post – I seem to remember owning a Damnation for a week or two, simply so that I could say I achieved that goal. Or was that on the test server? As you can see, even though I lusted after the ship for quite some time, it failed to leave a lasting impression.
Speaking of ships I long desired, I took my Rattlesnake out on its first mission the other night. T2 bouncers and Cruise Missiles made short work of the NPC battleships, while my Alt’s Proteus cleaned up the smaller and closer hulls. It worked a little better than expected, and I might actually end up using the ship regularly.
I went for the long range flexibility of the Cruise (which I don’t have T2 yet) over the short range DPS of the torpedoes, which on initial appearances seems to have been the right option.
The goal of this fitting:
. Tank Level 4 missions
. Use only cheap faction modules
. Not required micro management

Hello,
Most rattle builds I have looked at have a 1 or 2 Omnidirectional Tracking link in the mids, what are you thoughts on that module.
I am guessing u went w/the AB b/c u are using Heavies and moving w/them rather than Sentries stationary w/the Omni Link.
Also, did you find the deadspace amps to be a decent value (for once!) ?
I don’t see any particular need to use Omnidirectional Tracking Links with the Rattlesnake. It has a 400m3 drone bay, so has plenty of room to pack a flight of T2 light drones to take care of any smaller NPC rats which get close. (Anyway, I generally pair it with an Alt who concentrates on the smaller stuff first anyway.)
When I have used them it has been on drone ships used in low sec and 0.0, and then more for interceptors or the like, not NPCs.
I use both heavies and sentries. The AB is simply to make it quicker to move through missions. That paritcular module only costs around 15M, and uses less cap and gives a little bit more of a speed boost, so is worthwhile.
I got the Gistum B-Type EM amp for 75M. It provides 42.2% resists vs 37.5% of the T2 module.
I got the Pithum A-Type Thermal amp for 50M. It provided 45.1% resists vs 37.5% of the T2.
Given the hull cost is a bit over 500M, my fitting is pretty cheap. The mix of 3 faction modules above basically increase the tank by a bit over 9%, reduce cap load, and increase AB speed by about 9m/s. Not earth shattering, but to my mind worthwhile.
